Vanessa Billy


 
Born 1978, Geneva, lives and works in Zurich. Studied Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art, including a semester at Cooper Union, New York, under Hans Haacke. Selected solo exhibitions include: ‘We Become’ at Kunsthaus Pasquart, Biel and ‘Redevenir’ at Villa Bernasconi, Lancy CH (2021). ‘Dear Life’, Centre Culturel Suisse, Paris, FR (2017). ‘We Dissolve’, Kunsthalle Sankt Gallen, CH (2016). ‘Sustain, sustain’, Collective, Edinburgh, UK (2014). ‘Surfaces for the mind to rest or sink into’, The Photographer’s Gallery, London UK (2009).

Public art commissions include St. Peter Church, Jubiläums 500 years Reformation and Schule Ilgen, Zurich, CH (2013) and Frieze Sculpture Park, London, UK (2009).

Billy was the recipient of the Swiss Art Award in 2014. Her works are held in numerous private and public collections including the Migros Museum, Zurich, CH, Centre Nationale des Arts Plastiques, Paris, FR and British Arts Council, UK.

Current: public commission ‘La Matrice’, EPFL, Lausanne, CH (2022–23).
