Michael Craig Martin
Richard Cork

Exhibition catalogue for the 2006 retrospective of Michael Craig-Martin's work at the Irish Museum of Modern Art. This sumptuously illustrated book is the first complete monograph on the work of Craig-Martin. It spans his entire career, reproducing the full spectrum of his work, from his early sculptures and conceptual text pieces to his later wall-drawings, neon works, paintings and large-scale installations. Craig-Martin’s early practice involved the use of ready-mades, inspired by Marcel Duchamp, such as in the iconic conceptual work An Oak Tree, 1973.

Born in Dublin in 1941, Craig-Martin was brought up in the United States and educated at Yale. He returned to Europe in the mid-‘60s, where he became one of the key figures of the first generation of British conceptual artists. Essay by Richard Cork.
