Segni Migranti: storie di grafica e fotografia
Mario Cresci
Mario Cresci’s most substantial monograph to date, winner of the Prix du Livre Historique, at Les Rencontres Arles in 2020.
Segni Migranti blends collective graphic design and archival photography to trace stories of migration and identity, exploring themes of belonging, displacement, and transformation.
Cresci explains “the book, which contains stories in the form of signs and meanings, presents itself as an archive of personal and collective images that serve as a litmus test, a work similar to a mirror in which the search for meaning bounces back, following the times and lived experiences in specific social contexts, within the community and within things. All of this allowed me, among other things, to understand and become familiar with a reality that, at the beginning, was foreign and unknown to me, such as the area of Southern Italy, where I found myself for the first time at the end of the 1960s.”
