This book includes the artist’s typewritten poems to Dave Grubbs (“drone groan”), Kerry James Marshall (“Keeping Marginal”), Esther Parada (“Extra/Plethora”), and many others.
“In January/February of 1999, I showed some sculpture and maps and a record and a film at the Chicago Project Room. Instead of a guest book, near the entrance to the gallery I placed my typewriter, and a box of blank cards, with the following instructions: If you type your name and address on one side of a postcard I will write a small poem for you on the other side and mail it to you. The following is those names and their corresponding poems” – preface.
